Women's Volleyball
Posted 50 assists in NSU's two matches last week...had six kills, no errors and hit .429 in the loss to Bethune-Cookman...added 27 assists in the loss to Florida A&M...had five digs in each match.
Football
Recorded 10 catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns in the 21-16 win over Delaware State...had eight catches for 86 yards and both of his touchdowns in the decisive fourth-quarter rally...scored the winning TD with 49 seconds remaining on a 39-yard catch-and-run where he broke two tackles before finding the end zone...it was his fourth 100-yard receiving game of the season.

NORFOLK, Va.- The NSU football team (6-4) concludes its second winning season in the last three years on Saturday when the Spartans play host to Winston-Salem State (1-9). Kickoff is 1 p.m. at Dick Price Stadium.

Saturday is Senior Day for 13 members of the NSU football team, as well as Military Appreciation Day.

All-MEAC honoree Nicole Kessner had team-highs of 14 assists and seven digs in the loss to UMES
11.20 | Women's Volleyball
BALTIMORE, Md. — Whitney Johnson had a match-high 11 kills and hit .733 to help the Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Norfolk State in quarterfinals of the 2009 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament on Friday afternoon at the Coppin Center on the campus of Coppin State University.  The Lady Hawks won the match 25-14, 25-11, 25-18.

The Lady Hawks dominated the match by jumping out to early leads in each set. The closest NSU (9-22) could get was 25-18 in the third set, but the damage had already been done.

NORFOLK, Va. — The Spartans (0-2) host Division II St. Paul’s in their home opener tonight after a nail-biting 77-75 overtime loss at Wofford on Wednesday. Sophomore guard Whitney Long (Raleigh, N.C.) matched her career-high with 19 points, while sophomore guard Marquilla Evans (Portsmouth, Va.) contributed 15 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

11.19 | Women's Volleyball

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State sophomore setter Nicole Kessner (Blacksburg, Va.) was named to the 2009 All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference volleyball second team as voted on by the conference head coaches and sports information directors the league announced on Thursday.

Kessner is the first Spartan to earn All-MEAC honors under third-year head coach Jennifer Fry.

NORFOLK, Va. - Saturday's Norfolk State home football game against Winston-Salem State has been designated Military Appreciation Day. All military, including active duty, reserve, retired and National Guard, will be admitted for $5 with a valid military ID.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Natalie Gramblin hit the front end of a pair of free throws with five seconds left in overtime and Whitney Long (Raleigh, N.C.) missed a desperation 3-pointer on the other end of the court as the Wofford women’s basketball team held off Norfolk State 77-75 on Wednesday night at the Benjamin Johnson Arena.

NSU (0-2) had a five-point lead, 66-61, with 1:38 left in regulation after a layup by Raychele Payne (Newport News, Va.). But a free throw by Gramblin and back-to-back scores by Mahagony Williams tied the game at 66-all, forcing the extra period.
