Football
Recorded 10 catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns in the 21-16 win over Delaware State...had eight catches for 86 yards and both of his touchdowns in the decisive fourth-quarter rally...scored the winning TD with 49 seconds remaining on a 39-yard catch-and-run where he broke two tackles before finding the end zone...it was his fourth 100-yard receiving game of the season.
Women's Volleyball
Posted 50 assists in NSU's two matches last week...had six kills, no errors and hit .429 in the loss to Bethune-Cookman...added 27 assists in the loss to Florida A&M...had five digs in each match.

NORFOLK, Va. — The Spartans (0-2) host Division II St. Paul’s in their home opener tonight after a nail-biting 77-75 overtime loss at Wofford on Wednesday. Sophomore guard Whitney Long (Raleigh, N.C.) matched her career-high with 19 points, while sophomore guard Marquilla Evans (Portsmouth, Va.) contributed 15 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Natalie Gramblin hit the front end of a pair of free throws with five seconds left in overtime and Whitney Long (Raleigh, N.C.) missed a desperation 3-pointer on the other end of the court as the Wofford women’s basketball team held off Norfolk State 77-75 on Wednesday night at the Benjamin Johnson Arena.

NSU (0-2) had a five-point lead, 66-61, with 1:38 left in regulation after a layup by Raychele Payne (Newport News, Va.). But a free throw by Gramblin and back-to-back scores by Mahagony Williams tied the game at 66-all, forcing the extra period.

SPARTANBURG, S.C - The Norfolk State women’s basketball team will take on Wofford College at 6 p.m. tonight. 

The Spartans are coming off a 66-49 season-opening loss at George Mason. The Spartans (0-1) were led by sophomore Marquilla Evans who had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds (career-high).

FAIRFAX, Va. — Ashleigh Braxton had a game-high 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range, to lead the George Mason women’s basketball team to a 66-49 win Norfolk State on Friday evening at the Patriot Center. Braxton added five rebounds and four assists in 28 minutes of play.

NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk State women’s basketball team opens the 2009-10 season on Friday at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. The Spartans are lead by first-year interim head coach Debra Clark. Nine letterwinners from last season return, including redshirt-senior Tiffany McNair, juniors Raychele Payne and Danelle Tate and sophomore Marquilla Evans.

NORFOLK, Va. - Tickets for the 2009-10 basketball season are on sale now. Season tickets are $125 for reserved seating and $90 for general admission. The home slate includes nine doubleheaders against MEAC teams as well as three single games: the Spartan men vs. Maine (Nov. 16), and the NSU women against St. Paul’s (Nov. 20) and William & Mary (Dec. 18).
