Women's Volleyball
Posted 50 assists in NSU's two matches last week...had six kills, no errors and hit .429 in the loss to Bethune-Cookman...added 27 assists in the loss to Florida A&M...had five digs in each match.
Football
Recorded 10 catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns in the 21-16 win over Delaware State...had eight catches for 86 yards and both of his touchdowns in the decisive fourth-quarter rally...scored the winning TD with 49 seconds remaining on a 39-yard catch-and-run where he broke two tackles before finding the end zone...it was his fourth 100-yard receiving game of the season.

11.19 | Women's Bowling

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Norfolk State bowling team posted a 6-4 record, including 4-4 in the MEAC standings, at last weekend’s MEAC Southern Division meet hosted by Bethune-Cookman.

The winning weekend was the third straight to start the season for the Spartans, who are now 22-8 overall and 10-6 in the MEAC South.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The NSU women’s bowling team posted an 8-2 record for the second week in a row as the Spartans opened MEAC Southern Division play on Saturday and Sunday at the Northside Bowling Lanes.

NSU improved its season record to 16-4 overall and 6-2 in MEAC divisional play.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Norfolk State women’s bowling team got its 2009-10 season off to a stellar start by winning the Down South Open hosted by Winston-Salem State this weekend.

The Spartans posted an 8-2 record, going 4-1 both in Saturday’s team games and in Sunday’s baker games. They were led by junior Cathryn Myrick (Virginia Beach, Va.), who won tournament MVP honors with a high average of 191.4 pins.

NORFOLK, Va. – Senior football player Don Carey (Norfolk, Va.) and junior tennis player Stepanka Velebova (Tachov, Czech Republic) were named Norfolk State Male and Female Athlete of the Year, respectively, at the school’s athletic banquet on Tuesday night.

Velebova also won the department’s Scholar Athlete Award, given to the upperclassman with the highest GPA.
