Kankey Selected to Attend NCAA Women Coaches Academy

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State head softball coach Kary Kankey has been selected to attend the 2009 NCAA Women Coaches Academy, May 27-31 in Denver, Colo.

Kankey is the third Spartan coach to attend the WCA in the last two years. In 2008, Ronda Berard, NSU’s women’s track and cross country coach and Wilhelmenia Harrison, the school’s women’s bowling coach, attended the WCA.

The NCAA WCA provides skills training for coaches at all levels to assist them in being more efficient, productive, resourceful and successful. The academy is designed for women coaches who seek to increase their individual effectiveness by learning advanced skills and strategies that directly affect their personal and team success. Kankey was among 50 applicants selected for the summer sessions of the WCA.
