Berard Signs Local Track and Field Standout Champagne Bell

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State women’s track coach Ronda Berard announced Tuesday the signing of runner/jumper Champagne Bell (Norfolk, Va./Booker T. Washington HS) to a national letter of intent to compete for the Spartans next year.

Bell did well at the Eastern District Outdoor Championship last month, where she won the long jump (17 feet, 10 inches), high jump (4-10) and the 400 meters (55.47, PR) and finished second in the pole vault (6-6). At the VHSL Group AAA State Outdoor Championship this past weekend, she finished second in the 400 with a time of 55.65.

“We are excited about Champagne choosing to continue her education and track career at Norfolk State University,” Berard said. “She will be a great addition to our program.”
