Kenneth Giles Named Director of Track & Field Programs

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State athletics director Marty L. Miller announced on Tuesday that men’s track coach Kenneth Giles has been assigned to the position of director of track and field programs.

Giles will remain as the Spartans’ head men’s track coach, and Ronda Berard will remain as the head women’s coach. Giles, however, will take on the added responsibility of overseeing the operations of both programs with an emphasis on recruiting, scheduling and home track meet operations.

“The purpose of this move is to elevate our women’s track program to the next level,” Miller said. “We want both programs to compete for MEAC and NCAA championships on a yearly basis.”

“I want to thank Mr. Miller for having the confidence in me to lead our track and field programs,” said Giles, who has led the NSU men to 16 MEAC cross country and track championships. “Coach Berard and I will work hand-in-hand to make sure the goal of competing on a national level is accomplished.”
