RALEIGH, N.C. — The Norfolk State women’s tennis team earned its second win of the season with a 5-2 victory at Shaw University on Sunday.

The doubles team of Jennifer Astbury (Chesapeake, Va.) and Naeemah Brooks (Galloway, N.J.) fell 9-7 at No. 1 doubles, but Chenge Tsapayi (Harare, Zimbabwe) and Rebecca Graff (Bastad, Sweden) won 8-5 at No. 2. The Spartans (2-9) won the doubles point when the sister duo of Ashley Foster (Norfolk, Va.) and Brittany Foster (Norfolk, Va.) won by default at No. 3.

NSU won the Nos. 3 through 6 singles matches to clinch the overall win. Tsapayi and Graff won in straight sets at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, while Ashley Foster won by default at No. 6. Brooks defeated Livia Oliveira 4-6, 6-4 (10-6) at No. 3 singles.

The Spartans return home for the rest of the season starting with a 1 p.m. match against Maryland Eastern Shore on Sunday.
