NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State sophomores Vincent Rono (Bomet, Kenya) and Kellen Rutto (Eldoret, Kenya) were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Rono won the UMES Lid Lifter Invite with a time of 25:30.19. His time aided the Spartans to a second-place finish out of four competing teams on the 8K course.

Rutto paced the Spartans with a time of 19:31.75 at the UMES Lid Lifter Invite. Rutto won the 5K race and guided her team to a second-place finish. 

The Spartans return to action this Friday at the Lou Onesty Invitational hosted by the University of Virginia.
