LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Norfolk State men's cross country team placed 20th out of 32 teams on Saturday morning at the NCAA Southeast Regional meet hosted by the University of Louisville.
Senior
Josef Tessema was the Spartans' top finisher on the 10-kilometer course. He finished 53rd overall out of 218 runners. Tessema clocked a time of 31 minutes, 32.6 seconds. Fellow senior
Amos Kipkosgei was the next-highest NSU finisher, placing 122nd (119th toward the team total) in 33:00.00.
Philemon Kimutai made it a Spartan senior sweep of the team's top three slots, as he placed 127th (124th in team points) in 33:04.6.
First-year sophomores
Damtew Adnew and
Nathnael Meseret rounded out NSU's top five. Adnew was 128th overall (125th in team points) in 33:05.9, and Meseret was 150th (146th in team points) 33:43.4.
The Spartans have two weeks off before opening indoor track season on Dec. 4 at CNU.
