Corey Coffer joined the Norfolk State men's basketball coaching staff in 2025, bringing more than a decade of coaching experience at both the collegiate and high school levels to the Spartans.
Coffer arrived in Norfolk after serving as an assistant coach at Bryant & Stratton Community College, where he helped guide the Bobcats to a 20-10 overall record and a 12-6 conference mark during the 2024-25 season. Under his guidance, three student-athletes earned all-conference recognition, highlighted by Kimoni Small, who garnered First Team All-Region honors.
Before entering the collegiate ranks, Coffer spent eight seasons as the head coach at Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach. During his tenure, he compiled a 94-74 overall record and led the Cavaliers to their first VHSL state tournament appearance since 1999 during the 2022-23 season. That year, Coffer was named the VHSL Region 5A Coach of the Year after guiding Princess Anne to one of the program's most successful campaigns in more than two decades.
Known for his ability to develop talent, Coffer coached numerous all-conference performers during his time at Princess Anne. Will Bland earned Beach District Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2023, while Styles Clemmons was named to the All-District First Team.
Coffer's coaching experience also includes stops at Green Run High School, Wilson High School, Deep Creek High School, and Hoke High School, where he helped develop student-athletes both on and off the court.
A graduate of Norfolk State University, Coffer earned his Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education in 2012. During his time at NSU, he served as a student manager for the Spartans men's basketball program, providing him with a full-circle opportunity to return to his alma mater as a member of Robert Jones' coaching staff.
