Darryl Bullock

Darryl Bullock joins the Norfolk State coaching staff ahead of the 2025 season as the Spartans’ assistant head coach, bringing over three decades of collegiate coaching experience.

Bullock comes to NSU from across the bay, serving as the offensive line coach and run-game coordinator at Hampton. Under his leadership, the Pirates ranked second in the CAA with 195.8 rushing yards per game, racking up 32 touchdowns on the ground.

Bullock came to Hampton from North Carolina Central, beginning as an offensive line coach during the 2007 season. Following the 2007 campaign, he was elevated to the rank of assistant head coach and in 2010 he was elevated to interim head football coach.

Spending two seasons at Tennessee State as the offensive line coach, tight ends coach, and recruiting coordinator, Bullock’s offensive line paved the way for a sophomore running back to gain 1,233 yards on the ground in that time.

Bullock coached three All-Big South Conference linemen as the defensive line coach at Gardner Webb in 2002. As the offensive line coach at New Hampshire (1999-2000), five of Bullock’s student-athletes claim all-conference honors in just two seasons.

Serving as tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator at Morgan State from 1996-98, Bullock also had a brief stint as the team’s interim head football coach. He began his full-time college football coaching career as the defensive line coach/recruiting coordinator at Moorehead State (1994) after holding offensive line coaching internships at Penn State (1992-93) and graduate assistant defensive line coach at Michigan (1990-91).

As a player for Penn State, he was a part of two consecutive trips to national championship games, including a loss to Oklahoma followed by a victory over Miami in the 1987 Fiesta Bowl to win the national title.

Bullock has also worked summer internships with the Dallas Cowboys (2009), Cleveland Browns (2001), Miami Dolphins (2000), and New England Patriots (1998).

Bullock received his bachelor’s degree in exercise science in 1990 from Pennsylvania State University and his master’s degree in kinesiology in 1992.

He is the proud father of a son, Luther.
