NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State first-year sophomore Sean Holston (Springfield, Va.) has qualified and been selected to participate in the men’s 200 meters on Friday at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Arkansas.

03.11 | Baseball

NORFOLK, Va. - Due to the rain storms expected to affect the Hampton Roads region this weekend, dates for the baseball series between Fairleigh Dickinson and Norfolk State at NSU's Marty L. Miller Field have been changed.

The teams will now play doubleheaders on Sunday and Monday. The first game begins at 1 p.m. both days. There will not be any games on Saturday.

DURHAM, N.C.Brandon Hairston (North Garden, Va.) and Chris Joyce (Chesapeake, Va.) both homered twice and drove in five runs over the course of Norfolk State’s 14-2, 18-6 doubleheader sweep of North Carolina Central on Wednesday afternoon at the Durham Athletic Park.

The Spartans (6-5-1) pounded out 38 hits in the two seven-inning games, 18 of which went for extra bases. Hairston did the most damage, going 7-for-10 with four doubles, two homers and the five RBI.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Norfolk State softball team dropped a pair of games at the University of Virginia on Wednesday, falling 9-1 in five innings and 3-2 to the Cavaliers at The Park.

In game 1, NSU (2-11) got on the board first in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by Brianeisha Eure (Virginia Beach, Va.). Virginia (10-9) tied things up in the bottom of the frame on a solo home run by Nicole Koren.

NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk State women’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to the University of Pittsburgh on Wednesday at the NSU Tennis Complex.

Pittsburgh got off to a fast start and won the doubles point before taking all the singles matches in straight sets.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Sarah Bolden scored a game-high 21 points off the bench, while teammate Jalisa Isaac added 17 points as No. 6 Bethune-Cookman defeated No. 11 Norfolk State in the opening round of the 2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday afternoon at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
