Athletes of the Week
Women's Basketball
Scored a career-high 20 points in the loss to Morgan State, hitting 9-of-13 from the floor...added 11 points, six rebounds and two blocks in the loss to Coppin State.
Men's Basketball
Averaged 22.3 points, 10 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game in NSU's last three games (vs. SCSU, Morgan State, Coppin State)...had a career-high 32 points and 11 rebounds at SCSU...had 17 points and six rebounds in the overtime loss to Morgan State...added 18 points and a career-high tying 13 rebounds in the win over Coppin, his fifth double-double of the season...shot 70 percent from the floor (28-of-40) in the three games.

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State baseball team was picked to finish second in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference this year in a preseason poll of conference head coaches and sports information directors, the league announced on Thursday.

In addition, Spartans’ senior right hander Jason Barker (Chesapeake, Va.) was named to the preseason All-MEAC team.

Hairston was second on the team with a .348 average last year.

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State baseball program will host its second baseball clinic of this fall on Sunday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Marty L. Miller Field.

The clinic is open to Tidewater-area youth ages 7-13 or up to the eighth grade. The cost is $35 per child and includes the clinic instruction, t-shirt and lunch. The clinic is sponsored by Johns Brothers Security.

NORFOLK, Va. – The 2009 Norfolk State Baseball Alumni Weekend, held Sept. 4-6, was a smashing success. From Friday’s golf outing to Saturday’s football game to Sunday’s alumni baseball game, NSU was able to raise funding for the baseball program while providing former Spartan baseball players with the chance to reconnect and fellowship.
