Hansen Signs with Philadelphia Eagles

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State University quarterback Casey Hansen (Norco, Calif.) signed a free agent contract Tuesday with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Hansen, who just finished his senior season at NSU, was invited to try out at the Eagles’ minicamp last weekend and was offered a three-year free agent deal afterward.

Hansen, who will receive his bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies on Saturday, leaves NSU second all-time with 4,277 passing yards. He posted that total in just two seasons (2006-07) after transferring from Chaffey (Calif.) College.

Hansen, who helped the Spartans’ to their first Division I winning record this past fall (8-3), is the first NSU quarterback to sign a pro contract since all-time leading passer Aaron Sparrow in 1995. Sparrow played professionally in the CFL, Arena Football League and in the AF2.
