Spartans Ranked 3rd in Latest Black College Football Poll

NSU Climbs 3 Spots

NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk State football team is ranked third in the most recent black college football poll as conducted by the Sheridan Broadcast Network (SBN Sports).

The Spartans moved up three spots from their No. 6 preseason ranking after beating Virginia State 47-7 last Saturday. NSU received four first-place votes and tallied 186 points. Defending black college national champion Tuskegee is ranked first with 20 first-place votes and 256 points. Defending MEAC champion Delaware State is second with five first-place votes and 191 points. Both the Tigers and Hornets open their seasons this week.

South Carolina State is fourth, followed by Hampton, Albany State, Southern, Grambling State, Jackson State and Tennessee State.
