NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men’s track team dropped its season opener at Old Dominion, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.
The Monarchs (2-0) won all three doubles matches to take the doubles point, then won all five singles matches that were contested by straight sets.
Junior Arsenio Culver (Philadelphia, Pa.) and senior Keenan Ruff (Norfolk, Va.) had the best showings for the Spartans. Culver dropped a 6-2, 7-5 match to ODU’s Tobias Fanselow at No. 1 singles, while Ruff fell 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4 to Albert Ochagavia.
The Spartans return to action at ODU in a neutral-site contest against East Carolina at 5 p.m. on Friday.
