NORFOLK, Va. – Junior Arsenio Culver (Philadelphia, Pa.) picked up the first singles win of the season for the Spartans, but it was not enough to overcome East Carolina on Friday evening at ODU’s Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center. The Pirates won, 5-1.
Culver topped ECU’s Jaroslav Horvath 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. But the Pirates took the other four singles matches in straight sets and won by default at No. 6 to drop NSU to 0-2 on the season. Doubles matches were not played.
The Spartans have of until Feb. 12, when they take on Hampton in Newport News.
