Hairston Named Black College Baseball Player of the Week

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State junior Brandon Hairston (North Garden, Va.) was named the Black College Baseball Player of the Week for March 8-14, as announced on Thursday by www.blackcollegebaseball.com.
Hairston batted .700 (7-for-10) to lead NSU (6-5-1) to a 14-2, 18-6 sweep of North Carolina Central last Wednesday in Durham, N.C. The left-handed hitting first baseman had six extra-base hits among his seven hits, including four doubles and two homers. Hairston homered in his first two at-bats of the nightcap against the Eagles, his second two-homer game of the season, and matched his career-best with four total hits in the contest.
Hairston drove in five runs and scored six times in the two games. In the process, he raised his season batting average to .450 and his slugging percentage to .975.
