WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Junior Kellen Rutto paced the Spartan women's cross country team with a 13th-place finish on Saturday morning at the 6,000-meter Tribe Open hosted by William & Mary.

Rutto finished the course in 23 minutes, 43 seconds. The next highest finisher was senior Jamia Hutto, who was 34th in 25:42.

Freshman Kassandra Irizarry was the third finisher among the Spartans. She placed 36th overall in 26:11. Rounding out the Spartans' top five were Ariel Bartice-Smith in 40th (27:13) and Syeeda Gee in 42nd place (27:35).

The Spartans are off next week before competing in the 2011 MEAC Championship on Oct. 29 at UMES.
