NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State redshirt freshman running back Brendon Riddick was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Riddick led all players Saturday with 13 carries for 68 yards and one touchdown in the loss to Delaware State. The touchdown was Riddick's team-leading seventh of the season (six rushing, one receiving), tied for second-most among MEAC players. Riddick is now ninth in the conference in rushing with 347 yards through six games (57.8 ypg).
This is Riddick's second weekly conference honor of the season. He was chosen MEAC Offensive Player of the Week following NSU's win at Liberty on Sept. 8, when he ran for 150 yards and three touchdowns. Last week, the rookie was named to the initial watch list for the Jerry Rice Award, given by The Sports Network to the top freshman in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
