NORFOLK, Va. – Six Norfolk State student-athletes were named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Academic All-State team for the 2012-13 calendar year, as released by the organization on Tuesday.

To earn VaSID Academic All-State honors, a student-athlete must have achieved at least a 3.25 grade point average and be at least a sophomore. Each school in the state is allowed six nominees.
Below are the honorees with their 2012-13 classification, sport, major and hometown listed:

Armstead finished her volleyball career first all-time at NSU in kills, attacks, sets played, blocks and block assists. She ranks as the only NSU player ever to top 1,000 career kills. She earned second-team All-MEAC honors in 2012, all-state honors from VaSID and was the NSU Female Athlete of the Year. She also set the NSU single-season record for kills in 2012 and was recently honored with the Joseph Echols Memorial Award from the Norfolk Sports Club as the top senior student-athlete at NSU.
Braga, last year's MEAC Rookie of the Year, ended his sophomore season on the tennis court in 2013 with an 8-11 overall record while competing at the No. 1, 2 and 3 spots in the lineup. He also finished with an 11-9 doubles mark.
Goldberg served as NSU's starting placekicker on the gridiron in 2012 after sharing duties with Ryan Estep in 2011. Goldberg finished 11-of-18 on field goal attempts this year, including a season-long 51-yarder against North Carolina A&T. He also served as NSU's primary kickoff specialist, totaling 17 touchbacks on the season.
Graff finished her senior season with an 8-3 overall record in singles on the tennis court, including a 3-1 MEAC record. She also went 5-3 in doubles. Off the court, Graff has twice been named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete.
Overton was named the NSU Female Scholar Athlete of the Year at the 2013 spring banquet for the third straight time. She finished fourth on the bowling team with a 183.5 average, the best of her four-year career at NSU. For the second year in a row Overton was also a Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar.
Rogers, an offensive lineman on the football team, competed in all 11 games last year and started six times at the right guard position after playing as a reserve during his redshirt freshman season in 2011. Rogers and his fellow offensive linemen helped NSU finish third in the MEAC in passing offense and fourth in fewest sacks allowed.
