NORFOLK, Va. – Tryout dates for prospective NSU student-athletes in the sports of men's and women's basketball, bowling, softball, tennis, football, baseball and volleyball have been set for the upcoming month.

An interest meeting for walk-on tryouts for men's basketball will take place on Sept. 14 at 5 p.m. in Echols Hall. Participants will receive information there, including required paperwork, that they will need before tryouts. The actual walk-on tryout will take place on Sept. 25 at 2:30 p.m. For more information, contact assistant coach C.J. Clemons at clclemons@nsu.edu or 757-823-2693.

Tryouts for women's basketball will take place on Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. in Gill Gymnasium. For more information, including paperwork that must be filled out before the tryout date, contact assistant coach Lou Hamilton at lkhamilton@nsu.edu or 757-823-8456.

Anyone interested in trying out for the NSU tennis team should contact head coach Darryl Cummings at dwcummings@nsu.edu or by phone at 757-641-6146.

Tryouts for the NSU bowling team will be held on Sept. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at Spartan Lanes. For more details, contact head coach Wilhelmenia Harrison at wwharrison@nsu.edu or 757-823-2470. All participants will need to have updated medical paperwork with them, including an up-to-date physical (within the last year), copy of an insurance card and other forms which should be picked up ahead of time from the NSU Sports Medicine office outside of Gill Gymnasium.

The NSU softball team will hold an interest meeting on Friday, Sept. 9 at 3 p.m. at the NSU Softball Field. Those interested should contact head coach Heidi Cavallo at hdcavallo@nsu.edu or attend the meeting for more details. Actual walk-on tryouts will be held the week of Sept. 12.

The Spartan volleyball team will hold an open tryout in Echols Hall at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30. For questions, email head coach Dave Albaugh at dkalbaugh@nsu.edu.

The NSU baseball team will hold a walk-on tryout interest meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 12:30 p.m. in Gill Gym room 194. Anyone interest in trying out must attend the meeting – no exceptions.
