UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Jacob Milton continued the Spartans' dominance in the high jump with yet another first-place finish to highlight a productive weekend for the NSU men's track and field team at the Penn State National Open.
Milton matched his PR, clearing 7 feet, 0.5 inch to take first place. That came one weekend after
Garth Warner's high jump title at VMI, and is also Milton's second high jump title of the indoor season. He also won at Villanova in December, when he first cleared 7-0.5.
Warner finished tied for third this weekend at Penn State with a top height of 6-9.
On the track, several Spartans turned in PRs, with NSU's young sprinters posting their best showing of the season. Freshman
Trequan Barnes clocked a time of 47.57 seconds in the invitational section of the 400 meters. That time placed third in the event, was a PR for the rookie and is also the third-fastest time in the MEAC this season.
Sophomore
Jaylen Banks also PRed in the same event, taking eighth in a time of 49.00.
Barnes, Banks,
Justin Pinder and Phil Griggs also teamed up to take second place in the invitational section of the 4x400 relay. The quartet clocked a time of 3 minutes, 14.31 seconds, more than 4.5 seconds faster than NSU's previous season-best time in that event.
Elsewhere on the track, freshman
Keith Brown registered PRs in both the 60 (6.88) and 200 meters (22.18), and junior
