RICHMOND, Va. – The Norfolk State women's tennis team dropped matches at Liberty and VCU on Friday, falling to 0-4 on the season.

Liberty won by a score of 4-0 to improve to 6-2 on the season, while VCU earned their second consecutive victory with the 7-0 result.

In the first match of the day, Norfolk State dropped the doubles point after
Aleksandra Evdokimova and
Amber Fuller lost 6-3 to Micaela Ode Mitre and Tiffany Nguyen at the top position while
Laura Ruiz and
Breana Cook were bested on Court 2.
Amal Gati and
Oceanne Lopez led 5-4 at the No. 3 slot when Liberty clinched the point, leaving their match unfinished.

The Flames won at the No. 3, 5, and 6 singles positions to clinch the morning match.

Facing the Rams in their second match of the day, the Spartans had their work cut out for them. VCU has won back-to-back A10 Championships and six of the last seven.

The Rams swept doubles play, winning 6-1 on Court 1, 6-2 on Court 2, and 6-2 on Court 3.

All of the Spartans' singles matches against VCU were decided in straight sets.

Norfolk State returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 15 against Virginia Wesleyan, with first serve set for 12 p.m.
