Spartans Fall 5-2 against Howard; Evdokimova Defeats MEAC Player of the Year

| By:
Box Score CARY, N.C. – Aleksandra Evdokimova remains undefeated against MEAC competition in singles play, winning her overall seventh consecutive singles match on Saturday.

Evdokimova and Niya Grant picked up points for the Spartans in a 5-2 loss to Howard, the team's last match of the MEAC Tennis Roundup.

Evdokimova took down the reigning MEAC Player of the Year, Jordan Grayson, at the top singles position. The pair enjoyed a three-set battle, with the Spartan sophomore coming out on top 4-6, 6-1, 10-6.

The Bison won the opening doubles point by winning on Courts 1 and 2.  Grayson and Sifa Butcher bested Grant and Zada McMorris 6-0 at the latter, before Nadia Pegram and Selah Stibbins bested Laura Ruiz and Breana Cook 6-3 at the former.

Grant won at No. 6 singles by default, tying the match 1-1.

The Bison nabbed straight-set victories at the No. 3, 4, and 5 positions, however, to clinch the win. Stibbins defeated Gati by default as well on Court 2, after an injury ended the Spartan freshman's day.
