Spartans held scoreless by Morgan State Bears

Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Norfolk State University softball team were held scoreless by the Bears of Morgan State University 7-0 on Saturday.

The Spartans (11-13, 2-2) fell behind early as the Bears (13-11, 4-0) took a four-run lead in the bottom of the first inning. MSU added solo runs in the bottom half of the third, fifth, and sixth innings to win the game 7-0. 

No Norfolk State batter reached base during the first six innings, as Morgan State's pitcher Anaya Hunte was on track for a perfect game. Kenna Higa in the top of the seventh was walked as the lone batter to reach base for NSU, breaking up the perfect game for Hunte. 

In the circle for he Spartans, Brierra Tyler threw 2.1 innings during which she struck out four of 14 batters faced. The Bears managed to score five of their seven runs against Tyler. Alexis Robinson threw 2.2 innings while Cam Andersen threw one inning and struck out a batter.

Norfolk State takes to the field again this tomorrow as they conclude the three game series against Morgan State University with a doubleheader with game one to begin at 12 PM.
